Our Mission and More
100 Women Who Care Manatee is a group of 100 women who are passionate about Manatee County and all reside in this area! We will gather two times each year for a one-hour meeting, where members will have a chance to hear from fellow members about three local charities and their specific and immediate needs. Present members then vote to select one charity then each member (present and non-present) writes a $100 check to the charity with the most votes. This combined donation is intended to make a positive and meaningful impact in the community we call home.
Mission Statement: To bring together at least 100 women who will contribute financially twice per year to local nonprofits to make a difference in Manatee County.
Guidelines:
· Each member commits to donating $100 per meeting ($200 per year).
· Only present members who are current with their required contributions are eligible to vote. Each member will vote by ballot; the charity with the most votes receives the donation at any given meeting.
· Members can nominate a 501(c)(3) charity by submitting a form at least 48 hours prior to the meeting. Eligible charities will be placed in a hat each voting meeting. Three members will be chosen out of a hat to pitch their favorite charity by giving a 5-minute presentation followed by a 5-minute Q&A. At the end of the three presentations, a vote by ballot will be taken. Only one charity will be chosen.
· In the case of a two-way tie, the members will be provided with the names of the two charities and a second vote will be taken. If the second vote results in another tie, we will pick one of the two charities out of a hat. In the case of a three-way tie we will pick one of the three charities out of a hat.
· If a member presents and is not chosen, she is eligible to nominate her charity again for future meetings. If a member’s charity is chosen, that organization is not eligible to win again for two years. The member is still eligible to submit the name of another charity at the next meeting.
· All checks will be made out to the chosen charity. If a member is unable to attend, she is asked to send a check with a friend or mail the check promptly. An e-mail will be sent out the evening following the meeting with all of the pertinent details. Members are responsible for ensuring that their current address is on or attached to their check at the time of the donation.
Rules for Nominating a Charity:
· The ask must be for a specific and immediate need or project in the Manatee County area.
· National charities will not be considered.
· Local branches may be considered; however, the purpose is for 100% of the contribution to stay in the Manatee County area.
· Our intention is to support the community in a manner that respects the various political and religious differences among 100 Women Who Care Manatee members. Political and directly-religious organizations are not eligible for nomination. However, organizations providing direct outreach for humanitarian efforts for the community such as a church-run food pantry would be eligible for the nomination. Furthermore, team leaders have the right to disqualify any nonprofit that will divide rather than bring our members together based on political and/or religious beliefs.
· Members may only have one active nonprofit nomination at any one point in time.
· If two or more members submit the same nonprofit for consideration, the member submitting the nonprofit first will have that nonprofit on record and have the opportunity to present on behalf of that organization.
Responsibilities of the Charity:
· The charity must agree not to use the member names of 100 Women Who Care Manatee for future solicitations, nor give the information out to anyone for any reason.
· The charity must agree that 100% of the donation from 100 Women Who Care Manatee will go to the specific need in which they requested the donation.
· Send each donor a one-time thank you and tax receipt.
· Send a representative to the next meeting to explain how the funds were used.
If the charity does not adhere to these conditions it will not be eligible for any future consideration.
